Brněnská muzejní noc

The Brno Museum Night is over. How did you like it? !

The eighth Brno Museum Night in a row has ended. On Saturday, 19th May throngs of people flowed through nocturnal Brno, absorbing the atmosphere of this special event and taking advantage of the opportunity to take part in a guided tour, listen to a concert, get creative in art workshops, look inside places which are normally closed to the public and many other things as traditionally offered by the Brno Museum Night.

This year’s edition was a coordinated event involving 15 museums, galleries and other institutions which prepared an extensive programme for visitors and opened their gates at this unusual time at night. If you are curious about the ambience at the different sites you can look at our photogallery (left).

For the organizers the eighth year of the museum night will be connected with the introduction, for the first time, of collecting an admission fee in some institutions. Visitors will undoubtedly remember the beautiful weather, the pleasant atmosphere and new experiences. What will this year’s Brno Museum Night mean for you? Did you see everything that you had planned? Were you surprised, pleased, disappointed? Write to us! We will be glad to post your experiences, comments or impressions on these web pages. There is also available the museum night facebook where as well as your impressions you can also send in the photographs you took during the museum night.

And what did Kateřina Tlachová from the Moravian Gallery in Brno, which has held overall responsibility for the event since its inception, like? ”The studio in the Museum of Applied Arts of the Moravian Gallery, packed with children and adults totally immersed into making their own  jewellery designs, original performances presenting extravagant jewellery in the same place, a feel-good jazz concert in the court between the Hansen restaurant and the Pražák Palace of the Moravian Gallery, the smiling faces of visitors painted with magic decorations in the Venetian style …. There were so many impressions, but I am most pleased about the fact that our town was again witness to such joy and good humour – and from an organizer’s point of view the fact that the police and the emergency services had no reason to be called.“
Do not forget that this year we have again prepared reduced tickets for several institutions which can be found in the programme brochure and can be used until the end of 2012.

This year’s museum night would not be possible without the extensive support from its partners and we would like to thank in particular the Czech Ministry of Culture, the City of Brno, the Czech Association of Museums and Galleries and the Brno Public Transport Authority.

With best regards
Your organizers
